Annual Town Meeting Warning—March 6 & 7

The Legal Voters of the Town of Shoreham, Vermont are hereby warned and notified to meet at the School Auditorium in said Shoreham, Vermont on Monday the 6th of March, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. to transact all business not involving voting by Australian Ballot. (Said balloting to be held Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the afternoon at the Donald Treadway Fire House).

  • Article 1: To elect all necessary Town and Town School Officers as required by Law. (By Australian Ballot)

  • Article 2: To act upon the reports of the Town Officers.
  • Article 3: Will the voters of the Town approve the sum of $477,269. for the support of its town roads for the ensuing year and to pay outstanding obligations and orders.
  • Article 4: Will the voters of the Town approve the sum of $287,948. to defray current expenses of the Town for the ensuing year and to pay outstanding obligations and orders.
  • Article 5: Shall the Town pay its Real Estate Property Taxes to the Treasurer on November 10, 2006 with delinquent taxes having a penalty charge of eight per cent, and interest charges of not more than one percent per month or fraction thereof for the first three months and thereafter one and one-half per cent per month or fraction thereof, and interest of one and one-half per cent per month or fraction also applying to prior year delinquencies.
  • Article 6: Shall the voters of the Town of Shoreham authorize the Selectboard to spend unanticipated funds? (Such as grants and gifts)
  • Article 7: Shall the voters of the Town of Shoreham authorize the Selectboard to purchase a tandem dump truck at an amount not to exceed $155,000?
  • Article 8: Shall the voters of the Town of Shoreham Authorize the Selectboard to put $30,000 into the reserve fund for the purchase of Highway Equipment?
  • Article 9: Shall the voters of the Town of Shoreham authorize the Selectboard to put $3,500 of the General Fund balance into the reserve fund for the repair of town-owned buildings?
  • Article 10: Shall the voters of the Town of Shoreham authorize the Selectboard to add an amount of money, not to exceed a penny, to the tax rate to be put into the reserve fund for the Purchase of Fire and Rescue Equipment?
  • Article 11: Shall the voters of the Town of Shoreham authorize the Selectboard to put $3,500 of the General Fund balance into the reserve fund for Newton Academy?
  • Article 12: Shall the voters of the Town of Shoreham authorize the Selectboard to put $3000 of the General Fund balance into the reserve fund for Reappraisal?
  • Article 13: Shall the voters of the Town of Shoreham authorize the Selectboard to put $15,000 of the General Fund Balance into the reserve fund for the Town Clerk’s Office?

Articles 14 through 25 to be voted on by Australian Ballot March 7, 2006.

  • Article 14: Shall the Town appropriate by taxation $380 for Addison Co. Adult Basic Education? (Vermont Adult Learning)
  • Article 15: Shall the Town appropriate by taxation $1,600 for Addison Co. Community Action?
  • Article 16: Shall the Town appropriate by taxation $1,421.50 for Addison Co. Home Health Care?
  • Article 17: Shall the Town appropriate by taxation $250 for Addison Co. Hospice?
  • Article 18: Shall the Town appropriate by taxation $550 for WomenSafe?
  • Article 19: Shall the Town appropriate by taxation $1,300 for Champlain Valley Agency on Aging?
  • Article 20: Shall the Town appropriate by taxation $2,000 for the Counseling Service of Addison Co.?
  • Article 21: Shall the Town appropriate by taxation $500 for Elderly Services?
  • Article 22: Shall the Town appropriate by taxation $1,200 for the John Graham Emergency Shelter?
  • Article 23: Shall the Town appropriate by taxation $275 for the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program?
  • Article 24: Shall the Town appropriate by taxation $300 for the Senior Nutrition Program, Bridport Site?
  • Article 25: Shall the Town appropriate by taxation $500 for the Open Door Clinic?
  • Article 26: Will the legal voters of the Town of Shoreham appropriate the sum of $500 for Shoreham’s Lakeview Cemetery for mowing and upkeep of cemetery grounds?
  • Article 27: Will the legal voters of the Town of Shoreham appropriate the sum of $500 for Shoreham’s Village Cemetery for mowing and upkeep of cemetery grounds?

Total of above Requests (Article14 thru Article 27) is $11,276.50.

  • Article 28: To transact any other business thought proper to be brought before this meeting.

    The School goes first this year. We are starting at 6:00 p.m.
