Draft Zoning By-Laws—Get your red pen ready!

June 25, 2006

Reminder: The Draft Zoning Bylaws are now ready to be picked up at the Town Clerk's Office or downloaded from the Town's website: to help you prepare for the two info meetings (June 29, July 11). Many of you are very involved in Town issues and understand the need for feedback. The Planning Commission would like to have as many people from the Town as possible come share their thoughts on this draft. We, and our earlier colleagues, have spent thousands of hours on this document trying to fix problems, meet state requirements, and come as close as possible to answering the feedback we received from two earlier forums—Shoreham Walkabout and Shorehamopoly. Two informational meetings are being held to review the document:

  • Thursday, June 29, 7:00- 9:00 p.m. at the Firehouse Meeting Room to review Sections 1-4; refreshments will be provided.
  • Tuesday, July 11, 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Firehouse Meeting Room to review Sections 5-8; refreshments will be provided.

A quick word on what these meetings are NOT: they are NOT forums for discussing the pros & cons of zoning in general. These are intended to be working meetings so we can get your revisions incorporated into the document to be presented at the public forum. It will be most helpful and productive if comments are as specific as possible to the topic or section being discussed.

Please get a copy of the proposed regs, go grab your red pen, and meet us at the Firehouse! [Shoreham Planning Commission]

Festival Plans Are Rolling Along! Deadline approaches

June 22, 2006

The plans for the Shoreham Festival are coming along wonderfully. Full day activities are planned. Thank you, Hannah and Keith Farrell for taking this on to make it a full day of fun. The Platt Library is on-board with some great ideas, and we're still looking for input from other local groups about what they want to do. Deadline to get event/booth-space requests in is June 30! After June 30, we should have a complete itinerary of events.

There will be a parade at 2pm—everyone and anyone who wants to march down (or up?) the road is welcome! I you have a car or a cart or a buggy or a wheelbarrow you want to deck out and parade through town, here's your chance. No advance notice is needed to be in the parade, just watch for notice of where and when to get staged as the day approaches.

Despite the weather (!) we did raise $120 for the fireworks fund at the town lawn sales! We'll be holding another flea market sale at the Festival and will be taking donations for items the week prior. Watch for notices.

Also, still looking for a few more volunteers to help at the Festival— mainly for pick up and to help run some games. If you can help at all, please let me know—call, or use the signup form.

Finally, if your group wants booth space, there's a place to indicate it on the signup form. We need to know so space can be coordinated. [Heidi Lanpher]

UPDATE on Townwide Lawn Sales

June 22, 2006

The Townwide Lawn Sale went well; hopefully for everyone involved. The weather did not cooperate at all! (It was suppose to be nice!) We raised $120 for the fireworks fund and about $300 for the PTF. Thank you for all the donated items! The next flea market sale will be at the Shoreham Festival and we will be taking donations for items the week prior. Watch for notices. [Heidi Lanpher]
